Keep up to date with all AdWords updates and changes in 2018 - I'm updating the list as the year progresses!
Review extensions will stop showing; to be removed entirely in February
Review extensions show a brief quote or paraphrased 3rd party review at the bottom of a Google text ad.
Review extensions sounded like a neat idea when they were introduced in 2013, but in practice it has always been notoriously difficult to get reviews approved, and even then they hardly ever showed up alongside your ads.
Customer feedback in the form of reviews is helpful and sends trust signals. However, unfortunately there are plenty of brands that aren't transparent with how customer reviews and testimonials are collected. For the time being, Google has decided that review extensions will no longer be available, and I don't believe too many advertisers will be losing sleep over this decision.
You can now add, edit and remove keywords in the AdWords mobile app.
I wonder how many people truly use the AdWords app to edit their campaigns, rather than just keeping an eye on them. Then again, the app isn't meant for bulk edits by any means; for me, it mostly provide peace of mind to have my AdWords campaigns in my pocket.
Monitor significant impression shifts across devices and search result positions.
Google added two new insight cards to the Overview page:
1) the first shows you when there is a significant shift in the percentage of your ad impressions that come from a specific type of device.
2) the second card appears when your ads don't show up above the organic search results anymore, even though they typically used to be in top positions.
